Abby and Cady

Matched

Home Location: Twin Cities Metro

Family Status: Couple with Children

Children in Home: One

Child Ethnicity: African American, Asian, Caucasian, East Indian, Hispanic/Latino, Native American

Hi, we’re Abby and Cady. We know that adoption isn’t easy–it’s a path shaped by love, loss, and incredibly hard decisions. But within all that complexity, there’s also deep hope and the possibility of something truly beautiful. We hold so much love and respect for you as you navigate this journey, and we’re truly honored by the possibility of being part of your story. However this unfolds, we look forward to building a connection rooted in trust, openness, and care.

We’ve been incredibly blessed to have adoption be part of our story already. Our daughter came into our lives through adoption, and her presence fills our home with so much love and joy. We have an open relationship with her birth family, and it’s something we navigate with care, respect, and flexibility. Each relationship looks a little different–some more connected, some quieter–but all are rooted in love. We believe in honoring the unique bonds that form, and we’re committed to creating a space for those relationships to grow in a way that feels right for everyone involved.

Below, you’ll find more about who we are, how we live, and the kind of life we hope to share. We’re grateful for you taking the time to get to know us.

Family Life

Our little family is an easygoing, active crew who enjoys getting out and doing things together. We love spending time with friends and family–whether that’s trying a new restaurant, playing board games, or heading out on a weekend camping trip. We value connection, shared experiences, and making space for the people we care about.

In a lot of ways, we as parents, balance each other out. Where Cady is planful, Abby is easy going. Where Abby brings calm, Cady brings energy and brightness. This balance allows us to bring out those qualities in one another and strengthen our ability to face life’s challenges in a holistic way.

Quick Facts

  • Pets: Thor and Ginny our furball cats
  • Extended Family: 15 nieces and nephews / cousins to Paxtyn
  • Favorite Activity: Water time in the lake, pool or sprinkler
  • Holiday Traditions: Movies (Christmas Vacation & A Christmas Story)
  • Weekly Fall Routine: Vikings football game day fun

Meet Cady
Written by Abby

Cady can be described many ways, but a few that come to mind are loyal, hardworking, compassionate, and playful. She is a child at heart and loves games, sports, and making people laugh. One of her friends describes her as generous – with her time, her talent, and her energy.

Cady grew up on a farm which helped to build her hard-working character. She always does things all out and she works harder than anyone I know where it be at work or getting creative around fun activities for Paxtyn. It has been a beautiful experience to see Cady become a parent. Cady’s playful nature is magnetic, and you can see Paxtyn light up when she is around her.

Cady is a superb cook, a passionate Vikings fan, and a wonderfully supportive mom and wife. I am excited to see her continue to share her compassion and love with any future addition to our family.

  • Fun Fact: Been Skydiving
  • Hidden Talent: Can Play Saxophone

Meet Abby
Written by Cady

Abby draws everyone in with her kind-heartedness, patience, and positive outlook on life. There isn’t much Abby wouldn’t do for the people she loves or even people she barely knows. Abby has brought her “Minnesota nice” around the world to New York City, Thailand, Tanzania and Guatemala over the course of her education and career in social work. Everywhere she goes, she inspires those she meets.

Abby is so smart and is an excellent teacher and mother to Paxtyn. Some of her best qualities are her go-with-the-flow attitude, thoughtfulness, and attentiveness. I love watching Abby flourish as a mother and to see Paxtyn’s love and joy she has for her “Mae Mae”. I know she will spread the same warmth with any future child.

  • Occupation: Clinical Social Work
  • Originally From: Apple Valley, Minnesota
  • Fun Fact: Climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro
  • Hidden Talent: Can Speak Thai and Spanish

Meet Paxtyn
Written by Momma (Cady) and Mae Mae (Abby)

Paxtyn is the energy of the household; not only because of her age, but also because she is an intensely curious, talkative, and playful child. She loves to be involved and be in the action of all that is going on.

Paxtyn loves to play and care for others, making her an excellent potential helper and playmate for any future sibling. Her awareness and kindness extend to both babies and animals, as she delights in cuddling and caring for our cats, “Geeny and “Thor Thor.” We believe she would provide wonderful support and companionship for any future sibling.

  • Favorite Person: Her Grandpa
  • Fun Fact: Knows Spanish and English – Agua was her first word
  • Hidden Talent: Making her moms laugh

Parenting and Our Core Values We Hope to Pass On

  • Well-Rounded is learning and participating in many different activities, sports, and communities. Just as we grew up, we want our future children to join whatever they are interested in and encourage them to go out of their comfort zone and try something they may not think they will like. Whether it be traditional sports, music, theater, skateboarding, volunteering, or cooking; we want them to be themselves and experience all that life has to offer.
  • Courage is having a confidence in yourself and what you are doing. In many ways, it is standing up for what is right even when it is hard or unpopular. We strive to be courageous in our actions, in how we use our voices, and how we show up in the world. Our hope is for our future children to have the courage to be themselves in all the ways that make them unique and to feel confident in that.
  • Generosity is showing up in the most helpful way. When you are in a position to be generous, it is important to help those around you with life’s ups and downs. The only way to make progress is through effort and care for others and for our world. We hope that our future children are able to learn this by witnessing it firsthand from us and from the people in their lives.
  • Humility is approaching life with a mindset that you are no greater or less than anyone else. Humility allows us to meet others where they are without defensiveness or judgment. We will strive to foster humility within our family and within our children, so that they are able to be confident in themselves, while recognizing the strengths of others.

Adoption and What It Means to Us

Our hope is that with open adoption you will always have a very special place in our family and our hearts. Our child will always know of your love and that our working together is what made us a family.

We have an open and positive relationship with Paxtyn’s birth family and have created unique relationships with various people depending on their wishes and comfortability. We hope to do the same with you and navigate this together.

Thank You

We are so excited to expand our family and are so confident that we will be able to provide a loving, fun, and educational household for a child to grow in. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and our family.
